- 1 pound ground pork sausage
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 cans (28 ounces each) of bold-and-spicy baked beans
- 1 can (15 ounces) of black beans, drained
- 1 can (15 ounces) of light or dark kidney beans, drained
- 3 cups bottled barbecue sauce
- ½ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
- ¼ cup yellow mustard
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon ground red pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Instructions:
- Start by cooking the pork sausage in an ovenproof Dutch oven over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally until the sausage crumbles and browns. Once cooked, drain the sausage, reserving about 2 teaspoons of drippings in the Dutch oven.
- Return the cooked sausage to the Dutch oven and stir in the finely chopped onion, along with the next 8 ingredients (bold-and-spicy baked beans, black beans, kidney beans, barbecue sauce, dark brown sugar, yellow mustard, black pepper, and ground red pepper). For an extra kick, add the optional garlic powder.
- Bake at 350°F (175°C) for approximately 45 minutes or until the mixture thickens and becomes bubbly.
